Our Privacy Policy, Polling Methods and Other Important Info

General Information

We have the highest regard for your privacy.

All information gathered by this poll is strictly confidential. We do not distribute your e-mail (if supplied for telecast reminders) or personal information (since we don't gather any) to anyone. It is not shared with or sold to any other company, organization or service.

No information you provide is in any way traceable to the answers you choose on the webpoll. This data will ONLY be used to form a general demographic profile of overall poll responses and to gather poll response data.

Where we request that visitors register by providing their names, e-mail addresses, or other personal information, such data is recorded in databases on our servers. Our servers are hosted by a very reputable and technically competent hosting service provider, FutureQuest of Kissimee, Florida. We have the highest confidence in the security of our servers and any information stored thereon.

Automatic Data Collection

When a visitor requests to view a web page from a web site, information about the request is automatically stored in a log file. Log files are used to assess network traffic and to understand how content is being viewed on a web site.

Log files do not contain the visitor's name or e-mail address. A log file includes the name of the domain accessing the Internet (e.g., "company.com," "school.edu," or "agency.gov"), the Internet Protocol Number, the time and date of the request, and the type of web browser being used.

Cookies

In its simplest form, a cookie is just an identifying number. It is a small piece of information that a web server asks your browser to store on your local computer. When you return to the same website, your browser presents this information to the web server and the web server knows that you have visited this site before.

There has been a lot of misleading information about the use of cookies on the Internet. We do not use cookies in any way other than to recognize repeat visits to this webpoll.

Preventing Ballot Box Stuffing

To prevent ballot box stuffing, we can only accept one vote per Internet address (IP address). Any other method would not be secure and would be susceptible to one person voting multiple times.

Unfortunately, the downside of using this method is that it blocks some people from participating. If more than one user shares a single IP address, only one vote will count. Once one of the users at that address votes, nobody else using the same IP address can participate.

For multiple voters sharing a single proxy server (as in a home-based network or corporate environment), this is an unfortunate restriction. However, the alternative would be to require logins and passwords to prevent ballot box stuffing. This requirement would prevent many people from being willing to participate.

Interpreting the Web Poll Data

This data has not been collected in a scientific fashion using the concepts and principals of statistical sampling. Please keep in mind that the poll data collected on this site is provided by individuals who self-select to participate. Although the data provides insights into viewers' opinions, no inferences can be made from this data to opinions of the general population or population subgroups.
